Process control is the difference between "looks good" and "runs good"
Located in Quanzhou – the center of China's construction machinery supply chain
Quanzhou is not an arbitrary location. Within a 50km radius of our factory, there are certified suppliers of specialty mold steels, commercial heat treatment facilities, precision machine tool builders, and international freight forwarders with experience shipping heavy industrial goods. This supply density allows UNIK to maintain shorter procurement lead times and lower logistics costs than manufacturers in less industrialized regions. We pass these savings to customers through competitive FOB Xiamen/Quanzhou pricing without compromising on material grade or process quality.
CNC machining with verified accuracy
Our machining center operates five CNC machines dedicated to mold production, including wire-cut EDM for cavity geometry and vertical machining centers for base plates and mounting surfaces. Every mold is machined to dimensional tolerance of ±0.1mm and surface finish of Ra 1.6 or better – verified by in-process checks using digital calipers and bore gauges. For comparison, many low-cost mold suppliers operate manual mills or older CNC machines with practical tolerances of ±0.5mm, which leads to mismatched cavities and inconsistent block dimensions. Our equipment selection is not about speed; it is about repeatability. The first cavity in a new mold matches the last cavity, and the first mold in a production run matches the tenth.
In-house heat treatment with batch-level traceability
Heat treatment is performed on-site using a carburizing furnace capable of processing multiple molds per batch. Each batch is logged with time-temperature curves and hardness test results. We test both surface hardness (HRC58–62 target) and core hardness (HRC35–40 target) using a Rockwell hardness tester. Molds that do not meet both targets are re-treated or rejected. This in-house capability eliminates the variability that comes from outsourcing heat treatment to third-party shops, where quality control is inconsistent. When you receive a UNIK mold, you receive a test report documenting the actual hardness values for that specific mold.
Three-stage quality inspection with CMM verification
Our quality process is not a single final check. It has three stages: incoming raw material verification (steel grade certification and visual inspection for surface defects), in-process dimensional checks (cavity dimensions, corner radii, mounting hole positions after each major machining step), and final CMM inspection. The coordinate measuring machine checks up to 25 dimensional points per cavity, including critical features such as core pin alignment and cavity wall parallelism. Molds are only released for shipping after passing a performance test on a standard block machine in our facility – we do not ship untested molds. Customers are welcome to schedule on-site witnessing of this final test.
