What Makes a Cement Concrete Mould "Industrial-Grade"?

Not all moulds are created equal. A mould that performs reliably over tens of thousands of cycles requires three core elements: the right material, the right heat treatment, and the right machining precision.

1. Material Selection

We fabricate our cement concrete moulds from high-grade steel alloys such as 42CrMo and, for highly abrasive applications, specialized tool steel. These materials are chosen for their ability to resist wear, maintain dimensional stability under high vibration, and withstand the corrosive nature of wet concrete.

2. Carburizing Heat Treatment

A raw steel mould, no matter how well machined, will wear quickly. That is why we apply a carburizing heat treatment process. This hardens the surface layer to HRC58-62, creating a durable, wear-resistant shell. At the same time, the core of the steel remains tough at HRC35-40, allowing it to absorb the continuous impact of the block machine without cracking. This hard-surface, tough-core combination is what gives UNIK moulds their extended service life of 80,000 to 100,000 cycles under normal production conditions.

3. Precision CNC Machining

Each cavity in a UNIK cement concrete mould is machined on modern CNC equipment. We hold critical dimensions to a tolerance of ±0.1 mm and achieve a surface finish of Ra 1.6 or better. All internal corners are machined with a 3-5 mm radius to eliminate stress concentration points. The result is a mould that produces blocks with consistent size, smooth faces, and sharp, clean edges-without sticking or premature wear.

Packaging, Shipping, and Support

We understand that your production cannot afford delays or damaged tooling. That is why each cement concrete mould is:

Coated with anti-rust protection before packing.

Wrapped in impact-resistant material.

Secured in a wooden crate that meets IPPC international phytosanitary standards.

Our standard lead time is 20 to 25 days after drawing approval. Shipping is typically arranged on FOB terms from Xiamen or Quanzhou ports.

After your mould arrives, we continue to support you. Every UNIK mould comes with a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. We provide spare parts, refurbishment services, and technical assistance to help you maximize the service life of your mould.
