The lifespan of a UNIK block mold is determined by two key decisions: steel grade and heat treatment. We use 42CrMo steel as standard and recommend tool steel like Cr12MoV for highly abrasive mixes. Our carburizing heat treatment hardens the surface to HRC58-62 while keeping the core tough at HRC35-40-preventing both wear and cracking. Every mold features radiused corners (3-5mm) to eliminate stress risers, a surface finish of Ra 1.6 or better for effortless block release, and precision draft angles for efficient ejection.
