Four Questions to Ask Any Interlocking Block Mould Supplier
Question One: What steel grade do you use and how is it heat treated?
The answer distinguishes industrial-grade suppliers from commodity sellers. Quality steel moulds require low-carbon alloy steel with carburizing capability-typically Cr12MoV or 9CrSi for interlocking applications. Heat treatment must include carburizing, quenching, and tempering, achieving surface hardness of HRC58-62 while maintaining core toughness at HRC35-40. Suppliers who cannot specify their steel grade and heat treatment process should be avoided.
UNIK uses vacuum-degassed Cr12MoV and 9CrSi alloy tool steel, processed through spheroidizing annealing, vacuum quenching, multiple tempering cycles, and optional deep-cryogenic treatment to -196°C.
Question Two: What dimensional tolerances do you guarantee?
Interlocking blocks require precise geometry. If the interlocking features are off by more than 0.3mm, blocks will not lock together properly. UNIK guarantees single cavity dimensional tolerance of -0.3 to +0.3mm, height deviation of ±0.5mm, and whole board flatness of ≤0.5mm.
