What Is a Hollow Block Mould?
A hollow block mould is a steel tool that mounts onto a block machine. It shapes concrete into blocks with predefined cavities – the hollow cores that reduce weight, improve insulation, and lower material costs.

Steel Selection

Heat Treatment
Each mould undergoes carburizing heat treatment. This hardens the surface layer to HRC58-62 while maintaining a tougher core at HRC35-40. The hard surface resists abrasion from concrete aggregates. The flexible core absorbs vibration and resists cracking under repeated impact.
Machining Tolerance
Cavities are machined on CNC equipment to ±0.1mm tolerance. Internal corners receive a 3-5mm radius to eliminate stress concentration points. Surface finish reaches Ra 1.6 or better, allowing clean demoulding without concrete adhesion.
Expected Service Life
Under normal production conditions with standard concrete mixes, UNIK hollow block moulds deliver 80,000 to 100,000 cycles before requiring refurbishment or replacement.
