A custom curb mould is a precision steel tool that forms concrete kerbs on block-making machines or dedicated curb presses. Its cavity defines the final shape, dimensions, and surface finish of every kerb unit produced.
Curb moulds differ from standard block moulds in one key respect: their cavities are longer and narrower, typically 500mm to 1000mm in length. This geometry creates specific challenges in ejection and straightness that demand careful engineering.

Product Overview
Each UNIK curb mould begins with a selected alloy steel grade, is shaped on CNC equipment, and undergoes carburizing heat treatment. The result is tooling that holds its dimensions and resists cracking through thousands of high-vibration compaction cycles.
Cavity geometry is built to the customer's specification. Common profiles include straight road curbs, tapered mountable edges, round-top pedestrian edging, and drainage channels with integrated runoff openings.

Steel Selection
General production uses 42CrMo for balanced wear resistance and toughness. Abrasive mixes with sharp or recycled aggregates require premium grades like Cr12MoV or 9CrSi for extended surface life.
Heat Treatment
Carburizing creates a gradient structure: HRC 58–62 surface for wear resistance, HRC 35–40 core for vibration toughness. This prevents both premature wear and brittle cracking.
Precision Machining
Cavities are finished to Ra 1.6 or better for clean demoulding. Internal corners receive 3–5mm radii to eliminate stress points. Tolerances: ±0.1mm cross-section, ±0.5mm length.
Service Life
80,000 to 100,000 cycles under normal conditions. Premium tool steels reach the upper range, depending on mix abrasiveness and operating parameters.

Ordering Process
To begin an order, the customer provides four pieces of information: machine brand and model, curb dimensions, number of cavities, and daily output target. Within 48 hours, UNIK supplies a dimensional drawing for customer approval. Once approved, production commences. Finished moulds ship 20 to 25 days later from Xiamen or Quanzhou port under FOB terms .
