How UNIK Paver Mold Concrete Differs from Standard Offerings

Many suppliers sell paver molds. UNIK sells molds that are engineered for specific production environments. The differences are not cosmetic. They are structural, metallurgical, and procedural.

Steel selection is not uniform. Where some suppliers use a single steel grade for all applications, UNIK matches steel to the concrete mix. 42CrMo serves standard concrete. Tool steel serves abrasive mixes containing sharp sand or recycled aggregate. Mn18 alloy serves cavity shells on high-wear applications, work-hardening under vibration to become more resistant over time.

Heat treatment is not generic. Where some suppliers harden the entire mold, making it brittle, UNIK uses carburizing. The surface hardens to HRC58-62. The core stays tough at HRC35-40. The result: a mold that resists abrasion and absorbs vibration without cracking.

Surface finish is not optional. Where some suppliers leave machining marks that cause sticking, UNIK finishes cavities to Ra 1.6 or better. High-wear surfaces reach Ra ≤0.4µm. The result: pavers release cleanly on every cycle, and release-agent consumption drops.

Draft angles are not guessed. Where some suppliers use standard angles regardless of paver depth, UNIK calculates 1.5° per side based on cavity geometry. The result: ejection is smooth, and edge damage is rare.

Corner radii are not sharp. Where some suppliers leave 90-degree corners that concentrate stress, UNIK machines 3-5mm radius on all internal corners. The result: no fatigue cracks, even after 100,000 cycles.

Paver Types That UNIK Molds Produce

UNIK paver mold concrete covers the full range of paver categories used in residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

Interlocking pavers – Curved or angled edges that lock together. The interlocking design distributes loads across multiple pavers, preventing shifting under vehicle traffic. Used for driveways, plazas, and pedestrian zones.

Wave-type pavers – Surface patterns that resemble ocean waves. These are increasingly specified for marina developments, waterfront plazas, and public spaces where visual appeal matters. UNIK delivered a wave-type paver production line to Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2025, capable of surfacing 2,000m² per shift.

Rectangular pavers – Standard shapes in sizes such as 200×100mm, 400×230mm, and 200×200mm. These are the workhorses of residential driveways and municipal walkways.

Hexagonal pavers – Six-sided shapes that create honeycomb patterns. Used for garden paths, patios, and feature areas.

Grass pavers – Open-cell designs that allow vegetation to grow through. Used for fire lanes, parking areas, and erosion control.

Custom pavers – Any shape, pattern, or surface texture that a customer can draw. UNIK manufactures custom paver molds from customer drawings or existing samples.
