Selection Guide: How to Choose the Right Paving Stone Mould
Selecting a paving stone mould requires evaluating four dimensions: machine compatibility, brick type and cavity count, production volume, and concrete mix design.
1. Machine Compatibility
Different block machines have different frame dimensions, locking systems, and pin positions. UNIK moulds are compatible with HESS, MASA, ZENITH, BESSER, TIGER, Columbia, and major Chinese brands. Machine brand and model must be provided during selection to ensure an exact fit.
2. Brick Type and Cavity Count
Determine the shape (interlocking, I-type, herringbone, etc.), dimensions, and surface texture based on project requirements. Higher cavity counts increase output per cycle but must match the machine's vibration table and pressing capacity. Common configurations range from 2 to 5 cavities.
3. Steel Grade and Heat Treatment
Standard applications: 42CrMo steel with carburizing heat treatment. Surface hardness HRC58-62. Expected lifespan: 80,000–100,000 cycles.
High-abrasion applications (sharp sand, recycled aggregates): Tool steel (e.g., Cr12MoV). Wear resistance increases by more than 30%.
4. Critical Design Details
Corner radius: 3-5mm to eliminate stress concentration and prevent cracking.
Surface finish: Ra 1.6 or better for smooth demolding and reduced material sticking.
Dimensional tolerance: ±0.1mm to ensure consistent block dimensions.
