UNIK selects steel based on your concrete mix and production volume:

42CrMo – for standard concrete mixes at medium to high volumes

Tool steel (e.g., Cr12MoV) – for highly abrasive mixes (sharp sand, recycled aggregates)

No downgrading. No "one steel fits all." You get the right material for your specific conditions.

2. Carburizing Heat Treatment – Hard Surface, Tough Core

UNIK applies a carburizing process that creates a metallurgical gradient:

Surface layer (approx. 2mm deep) hardened to HRC58-62 – resists wear and abrasion

Core remains tough at HRC35-40 – absorbs vibration, resists cracking

This dual-property design prevents the brittle failure common in fully hardened moulds.

3. Precision CNC Manufacturing

Every mould cavity is CNC-machined to exact specifications:

Surface finish: Ra 1.6 or better – smooth release, less wear

Corner radius: 3-5mm on all internal corners – eliminates stress cracks

Dimensional tolerance: ±0.1mm – consistent block size, batch after batch

4. Built for Your Machine – Not a Generic Fit

UNIK moulds are manufactured to fit specific block machine brands and models. We maintain specifications for HESS, MASA, ZENITH, BESSER, TIGER, Qunfeng, Hengxing, Quangong, Columbia, and more. If your machine is not listed, we work from your drawings or old moulds to ensure an exact fit.

Expected Service Life

Under normal production conditions with standard concrete mixes, UNIK moulds deliver 80,000 to 100,000 cycles:

Single-shift operation (1,000–1,500 blocks/day): approximately 18–24 months

Double-shift operation (3,000–5,000 blocks/day): approximately 8–12 months

This is significantly longer than generic moulds, which often fail at 30,000 cycles or less.
