Paver Brick Moulds
A paver brick mould operates under high vibration and pressure. Proper use extends its life and maintains paver quality. Before first use, clean the mould cavity thoroughly to remove any protective oil. Mount the mould onto the machine according to the drawing, tightening all bolts to the specified torque. Over-tightening distorts the cavity; under-tightening allows movement. Run the first cycle with a slightly drier concrete mix to check demolding. If pavers stick, inspect the cavity surface for damage or debris. After each shift, clean the mould with water and a soft brush - never a metal tool. Apply a light coat of anti-rust oil before storage.

The most common cause of premature mould failure is not wear - it is micro-cracking at sharp internal corners. When a block machine vibrates, stress travels through the mould steel. At a sharp 90-degree corner, that stress concentrates and eventually forms a fatigue crack. A radiused corner (3-5mm) allows stress to flow around the curve, eliminating concentration. This is not a design luxury. It is a metallurgical necessity that UNIK applies to every cavity. Another overlooked factor is draft angle. Without 1.5 degrees per side, concrete creates suction during ejection, increasing wear on both the mould and the paver edges.

Second, paver shape and size - interlocking, rectangular, or custom pattern. Third, production volume - daily target determines whether standard steel (42CrMo) or tool steel is more cost-effective.
