What Is a Hollow Block Mold?
A hollow block mold is a precision steel tool mounted onto a block machine. It shapes concrete into hollow blocks with uniform cavities, reducing material weight while maintaining structural strength. The mold's cavity design, surface finish, and dimensional tolerance directly determine the quality of the finished blocks.
UNIK hollow block molds are suitable for producing standard concrete hollow blocks, lightweight aggregate blocks, and custom cavity designs for construction and infrastructure projects.
Key Technical Features
Premium Steel Selection – UNIK hollow block molds are manufactured using 42CrMo steel for standard applications or tool steel for highly abrasive concrete mixes. The steel grade is selected based on the customer's specific production conditions.
Carburizing Heat Treatment – The molds undergo a carburizing process that hardens the surface layer to HRC58-62 while maintaining a tough core at HRC35-40. This combination provides wear resistance on the cavity surface and impact resistance in the mold base.
Precision CNC Machining – All cavity surfaces are machined to Ra 1.6 surface finish or better. Every internal corner features a 3-5mm radius to eliminate stress concentration. Critical dimensions are held to ±0.1mm tolerance.
Extended Service Life – Under normal production conditions with standard concrete mixes, UNIK hollow block molds deliver 80,000 to 100,000 cycles. For a single-shift operation, this typically represents 18 to 24 months of service.
