Curb stones define the edges of roads, sidewalks, drainage channels, and landscaping features. The moulds that produce them must deliver exact dimensions, smooth surfaces, and exceptional durability. UNIK has been designing and manufacturing curb stone moulds since 2010, serving infrastructure projects across 28 countries.

Why Concrete Curb Moulds Demand Higher Precision

Unlike standard blocks or pavers, curb stones face continuous exposure to vehicle impact, weather cycling, and drainage flow. A poorly made curb mould produces stones with uneven edges, incorrect radii, or weak points that crack under stress. UNIK curb moulds eliminate these risks through:

±0.1mm dimensional tolerance – ensures consistent stone width, height, and length

3-5mm internal corner radii – prevents stress cracking during demoulding and service

Ra 1.6 surface finish – produces smooth stone faces that resist dirt buildup and ice damage

Every UNIK curb mould is CNC machined from wear-resistant steel, then case-hardened to HRC58-62 on the surface while maintaining a tough HRC35-40 core. This combination withstands the abrasive wear of concrete pouring and the vibration of high-cycle production.

Machine Compatibility and Customisation

UNIK curb moulds are built to fit specific block machines, not sold as generic replacements. The company maintains specifications for major brands including HESS, MASA, ZENITH, BESSER, TIGER, Qunfeng, Hengxing, Quangong, and Columbia. For machines not listed, UNIK works from customer-supplied drawings, old moulds, or detailed measurements to ensure an exact fit.

Customisation options include:

Stone dimensions (length, width, height)

Radius profiles (straight, curved, or tapered)

Surface textures (smooth, exposed aggregate, or grooved)

Drainage channels or cable duct features

Material and Heat Treatment Integrity

UNIK rejects low-cost alloys and untested steel grades. Curb moulds are fabricated from 42CrMo steel for standard concrete mixes and tool steel for highly abrasive aggregates. Every mould undergoes carburizing, quenching, and tempering – a three-stage heat treatment that hardens the working surface without making the base brittle.

Hardness testing is performed on every batch. Surface hardness reaches HRC58-62. Core hardness stays at HRC35-40. This gradient protects against the two most common mould failures: abrasive wear and vibration cracking.

 

Quality Assurance and Production Capacity

UNIK operates CNC machining centres, heat treatment furnaces, and CMM inspection equipment in its Quanzhou facility. Each mould is inspected at three stages:

Raw material verification – steel grade certification

In-process checking – cavity dimensions and alignment during machining

Final testing – full dimensional measurement, surface finish check, and mounting hole verification

Only moulds that pass all inspections are approved for shipping. Standard lead time is 20–25 working days after drawing approval.
